The Miami Heat picked up a hard fought win at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In their 5th straight game without Dwyane Wade, they edged the Cavaliers 92-85. It was expected that LeBron James would lead the charge against his former team, but on this night he only put up 18 points. Chris Bosh had to carry the team to victory with a 35 point night, 17 of those coming in the fourth quarter. Bosh’s 35 points were sorely needed considering the fact that the Heat only had 3 players in double digits. The Heat have only lost one game without Dwyane Wade, but they can’t expect to continue that success much longer. Wade’s replacement, Mario Chalmers only had 9 points and 3 assists. When you compare that to Dwyane Wade’s season averages of 19.6 points and 5.4 assists per game, you see how much the Heat need their star point guard. While Chris Bosh is a great player, he can’t be depended on for too many 35 point nights. And you have to consider the fact that the “pace and space” offense will suffer without Wade. Mario Chalmers cannot give you the points, assists and speed that Dwyane Wade can give you. Let’s hope that the rest helps Dwyane Wade because the season is going to get a lot tougher.
