Dwyane Wade missed his third straight game Saturday night. He is still sidelined by a bruised left foot. Wade participated in the pregame shootaround but was not cleared to play by the team’s trainer. When asked about it, Dwyane Wade said “I want to play. It’s just about being smart. I mean, I wanted to play a couple of nights ago, just couldn’t do it. This is making steps. I’m getting better. I’m making progress, that’s all I can ask for, is to continue to make progress.” The Heat didn’t really need him as they rolled over the New Jersey Nets, 101-90. But despite their success without Dwyane Wade, there are two big questions. How long they can continue without him and how serious is this injury? The lockout has produced a season that will test the fitness of many teams. For the first time since the last lockout in 1999, teams will play 3 times in a row. Can the Heat afford to play many games without their “Big Three”? More importantly, is this a serious injury? A bruised foot sounds minor and it’s only been three games.
